Meet Dr. Lugo
Founder & Medical Director
Dr. James Lugo-Rodriguez is a board-certified family medicine physician with a passion for delivering care that is personal, accessible, and rooted in trust. As a bilingual provider fluent in both English and Spanish, he proudly serves the diverse communities of Dallas-with cultural understanding, empathy, and respect.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Lugo brings a lifelong appreciation for the power of human connection and the importance of being fully present with each patient. After years of practicing within large healthcare systems, he founded Stellar Primary Care to create a more human-centered, culturally responsive experience-where every patient feels heard, valued, and respected.
Stellar Primary Care was built on the belief that exceptional care must reflect each patient’s background, preferences, and voice.
Dr. Lugo believes that great care begins with meaningful relationships. His approachable, prevention-first philosophy encourages open communication, fosters trust, and empowers patients to take an active role in managing their health. Whether it’s treating chronic conditions, promoting wellness, or offering same-day access to care, Dr. Lugo is committed to being your long-term partner in health.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Lugo is an avid endurance athlete who has completed Ironman 70.3 triathlons and marathons. He enjoys pushing limits and lives the active lifestyle he encourages in his patients.

Today was my first visit and I must say Dr. Lugo is by far the best physician I've seen. He's very patient, kind, and understanding. All the concerns I had pertaining to my health was explained to me in a manner I could comprehend. He listened to me without judgment or interrupting. I'm very appreciative of that. Dr. Lugo- Rodriguez Was amazing! Listened to all concerns and answered all my questions. He didn't rush me at all. Asked about my history and went into depth about few of my concerns. He was also able to quickly fill my prescriptions. I'm new to the state so finding a good doctor is hard! Glad I came across him in zocdocDr. Awwad!
